New hackney carriage and private hire vehicle licence
Any vehicles taking pre-booked work for a private hire operator must be licensed with South Norfolk Council.
If you are purchasing a new vehicle please contact the licensing team prior to purchase to ensure that it is suitable to be licensed.
All vehicles must comply with the council’s policy and conditions and be suitable to be used as a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle. All new vehicles must be less than 5 years old at the time the application is submitted to the licensing team. The age of the vehicle is determined by the date of first registration shown on the V5C or bill of sale.
You must ensure that the vehicle is taxed before applying to renew the vehicle licence.
