Clinical waste
We offer a free collection service for clinical waste from domestic properties.
If you have sharps;
You can find information on the disposal of 'sharps' hereClinical waste is either classed as Hygiene waste or Clinical waste.
Hygiene waste is non-infectious and can be placed in your refuse bin. Please ensure this waste is double bagged.
Examples of non-infectious hygiene waste unless told otherwise by your healthcare practitioner include:
- Urinary Catheter bags/ tubes and stoma bags (drained)
- Wound dressings (non-infectious)
- Soiled bedding (vomit, human waste)
- Nasal and respiratory secretions
- Condoms
- Sanitary Waste
- Nappies
- Plasters
- Incontinence Pads
- Bed pan and Bed pan liners
- Home Dialysis tubing
If this creates additional waste and you cannot fit this in your current refuse bin. You may be eligible for additional capacity.
Let us know if you require extra capacity for your refuse binYou can also request a larger/additional recycling bin because of your medical waste that can be recycled. For example cardboard medicine boxes.

Examples include:
- Infected Wound/Ulcer Care
- Soiled Bandages from infectious diseases or wounds
- Peritoneal Dialysis
- Dialysate Bags and/or sets
- Haemodialysis
- Cannulas
Please note that if the waste is produced as part of the work conducted by your District Nurse it should be disposed by the healthcare practitioner.
Please allow up to 10 working days for this to be set up with our Contractors.
