Vattenfall divests Norfolk Zone projects to RWE
On 28th March 2024, Vattenfall completed the sale of the Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone (also known as Norfolk Vanguard & Norfolk Boreas Offshore Wind Farms) to RWE. The deal ensures continued development of the Norfolk Zone which will produce clean power for over four million homes across the UK.
The location of the Vanguard offshore array is off the coast of Norfolk within the North Sea.
The wind farm consists of up to 158 turbines (correction order changed this to 145 wind turbines made on 28 September 2022) off the coast of Norfolk and will make landfall at Happisburgh in North Norfolk with a buried cable route between landfall and the grid connection. The route will run through three Local Authorities: North Norfolk, Broadland and Breckland District Councils
The grid connection for the generated electricity is at Necton in Breckland District Council’s administrative area.
The key components of the project within Broadland District Council is the underground cable corridor 45m wide and the works and activities required for its construction.
The Local Planning Authority are responsible for the Discharge of Requirements (conditions) attached to the Development Consent Order.
