How to apply
From 30 March 2026 Broadland District Council will no longer provide a Local Land Charges search service.
After this date, our Local Land Charges Register will have migrated to HM Land Registry’s national register. You will be able to access a new digital service through HM Land Registry Portal , Business Gateway and on HM Land Registry’s GOV.UK pages.
To enable this migration, Broadland District Council will have limited availability to process Local Land Charges from 20 March 2026.
Please can all Local Land Charges be submitted prior to 20 March 2026.

From 22 June 2022, South Norfolk’s Local Land Charges Register migrated to HM Land Registry’s national register.
We will continue to respond to CON29 enquiries.
National Land Information Service
Your solicitor can do your land searches online using the National Land Charge Information Service NLIS.
Alternatively to apply for a search within the South Norfolk Area and Broadland areas you can use the online system, Public Access Land Charges (PALC). This can be used by you or your solicitor/conveyancer to apply for CON29 and CON29O.

Requests for Broadland District Council personal searches should be emailed to landcharges.bdc@southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk

Free search requests under Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
To request this information, please refer to the CON29 template which shows where you can access the information and follow the guidance provided for each question. If you are asked to email the Department to request information, please provide the full postal address and an up-to-date location plan clearly outlining the search site in red, making it clear that this information is requested under EIR or you may be charged.
Please note: legal forms or Local Authority stamped documents are not supplied for these types of search requests. The person carrying out the search is responsible for collating the necessary information.

Cancellation of Searches. If a search request has been submitted and accepted onto our system as a valid search, we are unable to cancel the search or refund the fee. Please contact us ASAP to cancel a search and we can advise further.
