How to apply
From 22 June 2022, South Norfolk Council will no longer provide a local land charges service.
After this date, South Norfolk’s Local Land Charges Register will have migrated to HM Land Registry's national register. You will be able to access their new digital service via the HM Land Registry Portal, Business Gateway or via GOV.UK's local land charges search service.
We will continue to respond to CON29 enquiries.
Read more information about the new digital local land charges service (from GOV.UK).
National Land Information Service
Your solicitor can do your land searches online using the National Land Charge Information Service NLIS.
Alternatively to apply for a search within the South Norfolk Area and Broadland areas you can use the online system, Public Access Land Charges (PALC). This can be used by you or your solicitor/conveyancer to apply for CON29 and CON29O. Please note that the file sizes must not exceed 4MB. See our guidance note for how to use PALC.
Please note that due to essential maintenance, this service will not be available on Saturday 10 January 2026 or over the week end of 17 to 19 January 2026. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Personal searches
Requests for Broadland District Council personal searches should be emailed to landcharges.bdc@southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk
