Residents invited to get active at Aylsham outdoor gym this August

Broadland District Council are encouraging residents to make the most of the outdoor gym at Aylsham Recreation Ground this August, with a programme of free support sessions designed to help people improve their health, wellbeing and confidence using the equipment.
The initiative marks the launch of a wider outdoor gym programme across Broadland and South Norfolk. Aylsham is the first location to host activities, with further sessions planned at outdoor gyms across both districts in the coming months.
Broadland District Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, Cllr Natasha Harpley, said:
Outdoor gyms are a fantastic way for people to be active in a free, convenient and accessible environment. Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, build confidence in exercising, or simply meet new people while enjoying the outdoors, these sessions are a great opportunity to get started.
"We know that becoming more active can feel daunting for some people, which is why we're offering support and guidance to help residents get the most from the equipment and discover the many benefits that regular physical activity can bring."
Throughout August, the Council's Help Hub team will be on site offering free advice and support to residents on staying active and healthy. Visitors can drop in, have a go on the equipment and find out about local services available to support their wellbeing.
No booking is required. Sessions will take place on 17, 18, 20, 24 and 25 August from 9.30am to 4pm, and on 19 August from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. In addition, free group sessions are available through Broadly Active. Community groups, organisations and residents wishing to exercise with others can book a session with a Broadly Active Fitness Advisor, who will provide guidance on using the equipment safely and confidently.
Outdoor gyms are located in parks and open spaces across South Norfolk and Broadland and offer a free way for people of different ages and abilities to improve their strength, balance, mobility and fitness while enjoying the outdoors.
