Hundreds of runners took to Marriott’s Way on 22 September to take part in Broadland District Council’s annual 10k race, sponsored by Orsted.

The very popular 10k race - which raises money for Norfolk Trails, a charity that maintains the 26 mile long Marriott’s Way footpath, cycle route and bridle way – once again saw runners of all ages and abilities compete.

Participants set off from Aylsham in waves, with the race finishing in the historic Reepham marketplace, where spectators cheered 401 runners over the finish line.

Runners of all ages and abilities enjoyed the run, with many commenting on the enthusiasm and encouragement from the marshals all along the course.

The fastest time was set by Daniel Wilson who completed the course in 35 minutes, 41 seconds. Jo Andrews was the first woman home running the 10k in 37 minutes and 32 seconds.

Runners competed in eight different age categories and Michael Persich (49:33) and Gill Woodhouse (1:02:59) did the over 70s proud.

Businesses and organisations also got involved taking on the MW10k corporate challenge, with a team from Aviva extending their winning streak.

Chairman of Broadland District Council, Cllr Adrian Tipple, started the race and presented the trophies at the end, he said:

This is the 16th running of our 10k race, which has become a firm favourite in the calendar for both fun and competitive runners from Norfolk and beyond. As always, we had a great turn out and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces at the end. I would like to congratulate all of our runners and give a huge thanks to our sponsors Orsted our staff and to the volunteers who helped marshal the event.”
