£20,000 grants to drive green networks

Parishes and community groups can now apply to South Norfolk Council for grants of up to £20,000 to install electric vehicle charging points (EVCPs ) and solar PV systems.
The grant includes up to £10,000 to cover the cost of EVCPs and any associated electrical infrastructure works, and up to £10,000 for a solar PV system of at least 4KW.
Cabinet Member, Cllr Keith Kiddie, said:
“We already have electric charging points in our market towns and hope that this grant will increase the number across the district, making it easier for people to use electric vehicles.”
The solar panels will help to support parishes and community groups to cover the cost of the electricity used by the charge points, as they will work together in daylight hours. Additional energy generated by the solar panels may also contribute towards the energy demand of the buildings themselves, helping to reduce costs while cutting carbon emissions.
The scheme is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, find out more information.
