Electric Vehicle Chargepoints and Solar PV Grants
South Norfolk Council has created the Electronic Vehicle Charging (EVCP) and Solar photovoltaic (PV) Grant, available to both Town and Parish Councils and community groups across South Norfolk, with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund released by the government in 2022. The grant has two overall objectives:
- Increasing the provision of public electric vehicle charging points across South Norfolk, to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles, across both the urban and rural areas of the district.
- Enable Town and Parish Councils and community groups to provide EVCP infrastructure to residents whilst providing their usual services, by reducing electricity costs through the provision of solar PV.
The grants were awarded to Town and Parish Councils and community groups across South Norfolk. You can see some key stats below:

Completed projects
11 community energy projects delivered including:
- Six sites both EVCP and solar PV at Tacolneston Village Hall, Forncett Village Hall, Carleton Rode Jubilee Hall, Bawburgh Village Hall, Norton, Thurton and Thorpe Village Hall and Roydon Village Hall.
- Four sites with EVCP only at the Willow Centre (Cringleford), Queen's Hills Community Centre (Costessey), Brooke Village Hall and the Pennoyer Centre (Pulham St Mary).
- One site with solar PV only at Wortwell Community Centre
Over 20 years the solar PV will generate enough renewable electricity to power over 650 homes for a full year, eliminate 575 tonnes of carbon emissions or drive an electric vehicle 16 million kilometres.
By expanding the public charging network, the scheme not only supports current EV drivers but also encourages more residents to make the switch, which will help reduce emissions and improve air quality across the district.
