Damp and Mould
Damp and mould are among the most common issues reported by tenants in rented homes. These problems can affect health and wellbeing, so it’s important to act quickly.
If you notice damp or mould in your property:
- Contact your landlord first and explain the problem, including how it is affecting you. Always do this in writing so you have a record.
- Your landlord may be able to resolve the issue by improving ventilation, insulation, or providing a dehumidifier.
If your landlord does not respond or the problem persists, the Council may be able to investigate under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
