Damp and mould

One of the most common concerns raised by tenants are around mould and damp. Your landlord may be able to improve the situation if you have a mould or damp problem in your home. You should first contact them to discuss the problem and make them aware of how it's affecting you.

Your landlord might find a solution such as providing a de-humidifier, installing improved ventilation or improving the insulation of your home.

Other things you can do to help include;

  • keeping a lid on pans when cooking
  • drying clothes outdoors where possible and keeping doors closed and windows open when drying clothes indoors
  • keeping your home regularly heated so walls and other surfaces stay warm to reduce the risk of condensation
