Level 3 first aid at work (three day course)

A first aider can act to prevent situations becoming worse and can reduce potential sick leave through prompt emergency action. You must hold a valid certificate of competence in either first aid at work, emergency first aid at work or any other level of training or qualification that is appropriate to the circumstances.

This course is for anyone who wants, or needs to be, qualified to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This is commonly referred to as a “first aid at work” qualified first aider.

Course details

The course consists of the following:

  • assessment of an incident
  • non-breathing casualty
  • resuscitation (CPR)
  • unconscious casualty
  • recover position
  • spinal injury recovery position
  • variation in resuscitation - obstructed airways and choking
  • circulatory system
  • heart attacks and angina
  • severe bleeding
  • shock
  • first aid kit and reporting
  • illnesses such as strokes, asthma, epilepsy
  • diabetes
  • fainting
  • fractures
  • dislocations
  • sprains and strains
  • burns and scalds
  • poisons
  • stings
  • anaphylaxis
  • eye injuries
  • revision
  • final assessment

At the end of the course you will receive a three day first aid at work certificate valid for three years. This certificate is recognised through the Health and Safety Executive.

Duration

Three day course, approximately 9:30am to 4:30pm. 

Equipment

No equipment is necessary for you to bring to the course. Pens and note paper will be available.

Refreshments

A sandwich lunch/salad with crisps and cake is provided as well as hot and cold drinks.
