As part of South Norfolk Council's commitment to support nature recovery, and connect our residents to accessible greenspaces, we're excited to offer the Nature Conservation Fund.

This scheme allows Town and Parish Councils, community groups, charities and schools in South Norfolk to receive up to £10,000 for biodiversity projects.

What we will fund

Funds will be awarded to projects that best meet the following criteria:

• Carbon sequestration: Projects that actively contribute to tackling carbon emissions.
• Biodiversity benefit: Initiatives that enhance local ecosystems and support a diverse range of plant and animal life.
• Public accessibility to greenspace: Creating and improving green spaces that are accessible and enjoyable for the entire community.

All ideas are welcomed; however, priority will be given to proposals that deliver one or more of the following projects:

• A Miyawaki mini forest
• Pond creation or restoration
• A circular walk
• Tree planting designed to improve air quality

Applications

• Applications are open from Monday 20 July to Friday 18 September.
• Successful applicants will be notified by October.
• All projects must be delivered by 31 March 2027.

Application workshop

This workshop will include guidance on how to apply to the Nature Conservation Fund, information on project types, case studies from previous projects and a chance to ask questions.
