ASB Case Review

An anti-social behaviour (ASB) case review was formerly known as a 'Community Trigger'.

If you have reported anti-social behaviour (ASB) to the police, council, or your registered housing provider at least three times in the last six months (for separate incidents, and within one month of each incident [this is called 'the threshold']); and the problem is still happening after action has been taken, you can ask for an ASB Case Review.

The organisations involved in dealing with the ASB will then meet together to look at what was happening, what action has been taken to resolve it and whether there is anything else that can be done.

What is the ASB Case Review not for?

The ASB Case Review is not the same as making a complaint about how an organisation has handled things. If you are unhappy with an organisation's service, use their complaints process. You can also complain to the Local Government Ombudsman or the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

What happens next?

  1. Your application will be sent onto the relevant Operational Partnership Team (within five days). This team is made up of officers and civilians from the Police and officers from the local council.
  2. The Operational Partnership Team will review your application and if it meets the threshold, they nominate a single point of contact (SPOC) who will oversee the case. The SPOC will contact you within seven working days of receiving the application and introduce themselves to you and explain the next steps.

What if the behaviour continues whilst my request is being processed?

If you need to report more incidents of anti-social behaviour, please contact your registered housing provider (if applicable), the local council or the police via their online reporting mechanism, or if this option is not available to you, via the 101 system. If it is an emergency, always dial 999.

How to apply
