Statement of Community Involvement for Broadland

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) outlines how we engage and consult with Broadland’s communities and other stakeholders on planning issues. This includes consultations relating to the documents that make up the Local Plan and consultations dealing with planning applications. We must comply with the SCI in preparing any Local Plan document or when determining a planning application. The SCI also details how the council expects developers with significant development proposals to engage with communities prior to an application being made.

The SCI was adopted in July 2016 and has been reviewed and updated in 2021/2022 in order to comply with legislation. The document is available from the ‘download’ section, below.

The Council has also produced a temporary update to provide details on how the COVID-19 pandemic has and continues to affect the Council’s consultation activity as it relates to planning. This is also available via the link below.

Also available for reference is the Council’s Community Involvement Protocol (2010). This is referred to in section 3 of the SCI, and it provides more detail on how developers with significant planning proposals are expected to engage with communities at the pre-application stage.
