Wymondham residents urged to donate to support RSPCA

Martyn Hooton

South Norfolk Council is teaming up with the RSPCA to host a joint donation and recycling event at Kett's Park Community Centre on Monday 12 October, from 10am to 2pm, just ahead of International E-Waste Day on 14 October.

Residents will be able to donate a wide range of reusable items and recycle unwanted electricals and textiles, helping to reduce waste and give unwanted belongings a second life.

South Norfolk Cabinet Member, Cllr Martyn Hooton said:

This event is a great opportunity for residents to clear out unwanted items in a responsible way while helping local charities and protecting the environment. Whether you're donating clothes, books or small electricals, every item diverted from the waste stream makes a difference.”

The RSPCA will be accepting donations including clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery, books, toys, games, puzzles and small household electrical items, while South Norfolk Council will collect small electrical appliances and textiles for recycling. Reusable items will be sold through RSPCA shops, with remaining materials recycled wherever possible.

Residents are advised that some items cannot be accepted, including furniture, mattresses, faulty electrical items, car seats, safety helmets and damaged goods. Full details of accepted items are available on the Council's website. Click here for more information about this and other reuse and recycling initiatives.
