South Norfolk primary school nets member grant
Robert Kett Primary School opened their brand-new football cage last week (29 November), which was part-funded by a Member Grant from South Norfolk Councillor Dave Roberts.
Cllr Roberts, Member for North Wymondham, contributed £400 towards the new cage which will give children of all ages improved access to sporting activities after school and throughout the holidays.
He said:
“I’m delighted that I have been able to support this fantastic school. The new football cage is a great addition, giving local youngsters more opportunities to participate in sport and improve young people's mental health.”
Headteacher, Cara Fahy, said:
"We are delighted with our new football cage which has enhanced our extra time wrap around provision which caters for between 60-80 children every day. We recognise that playing sport helps children to learn to control their emotions. It also helps children to develop patience and understand that it can take a lot of practice to improve both their physical skills and what they do in school. Sport helps children learn important skills such as problem-solving, resilience, perseverance, confidence and teamwork.”
District Councillors each have £1,000 ward grant which they can use to fund community projects in their area.
Funding is available for schemes that bring the community together to help kickstart new groups and support the health and wellbeing of residents.
