South Norfolk: Our answer to Father Christmas

This Christmas scores of children will be waking up to find out that Santa hasn’t forgotten them, thanks to two very generous local businessmen.
Today (3 November) Jeremy Payne of J Payne Services and Michael Downs of Carbrooke Cars and Commercials delivered over £2,000 worth of brand-new children’s toys, games and wrapping paper to South Norfolk Council’s Help Hub.
The presents will be wrapped up and distributed to families in need within the district, to help ensure every child receives a gift on Christmas Day.
Jeremy, who began donating toys to the Council four years ago and was joined by Michael a year later, said:
“Both myself and Michael grew up in low income families and we understand that things can be tough, especially at Christmas. We are lucky enough to be in a position to help and we do what we can.”
South Norfolk Cabinet member Councillor Michael Edney said:
“This is such a wonderful act of kindness. Christmas can be a difficult time for lots of families and this year, because of the pandemic, even more so. Jeremy and Michael’s generosity will put smiles on many children’s faces this Christmas and will come as a great relief to struggling parents.”
The Help Hub is a partnership between organisations that support people in South Norfolk. It offers practical support, advice and guidance help people get back on track.
