South Norfolk Council launched its brand-new Matrix equipment on Wednesday (9 March) at Long Stratton Leisure Centre.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Customer Focus, Cllr Richard Elliot said:

“The new state of the art equipment will help people get fit and healthy and reach their fitness goals, whatever their age or ability. “This investment will ensure the gym stays up-to-date and will help us to continue to retain and attract new members.”

The state-of-the-art equipment includes 26 new high-performance, comfortable spin bikes, with intuitive four-way adjustments, quick-touch operation and device storage for training apps. There are also two precision-engineered CXP target training cycles and a Concept2 RowErg that offers a full body work out for all abilities and is same machine used by Olympic and elite-level athletes to train for their sport.

In addition, there’s the Concept2 SkiErg, which was originally designed as a training tool for cross country skiers. It works legs, core and arms in a smooth, continuous motion and can easily be adapted to those with lower body limitations or injuries.

The new Assault AirBike, designed with a high strength metal fan, scales automatically to how hard you work. The AirBike is an excellent option for high-intensity interval training workouts. The seamless transition between hard and easy resistance allows you to focus on your workout without having to scramble for buttons.

The Council is also running a special offer throughout March, giving customers the chance to join the Council’s leisure centres for two weeks and pay just £10. Meaning, customers can try before they buy. This includes use of all five centres, unlimited swim, gym and access to over 40 classes. It even includes use of Imagine Spa at Wymondham Leisure Centre.
