Residents invited to help shape the future of housing in South Norfolk

South Norfolk Council is asking residents, businesses, community groups and local stakeholders to have their say on its new Housing Strategy, which sets out a vision for meeting housing needs and creating strong, sustainable communities across the district.
The consultation gives people the opportunity to influence the Council’s priorities for housing over the coming years, helping to ensure that local people have access to safe, affordable and suitable homes that meet their needs.
The Housing Strategy will guide the Council’s approach to a range of housing issues, including affordability, homelessness prevention, housing quality, specialist housing provision and supporting residents to live independently. The strategy will also help shape how the Council works with partners to address current and future housing challenges.
South Norfolk Council Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Graham Minshull, said:
Everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. Housing plays a vital role in supporting health, wellbeing and economic prosperity, and it is important that our Housing Strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of the people who live and work in South Norfolk.
"We want to hear from as many people as possible. Whether you are looking for your first home, raising a family, downsizing, renting, or supporting someone with housing needs, your views will help shape our priorities and ensure we are delivering the right support for our communities."
The consultation forms an important part of the Council’s commitment to working closely with residents and partners to tackle housing challenges and plan effectively for the future. Feedback received will help refine the strategy before it is considered for adoption.
The draft strategy focuses on a number of key themes, including increasing access to affordable housing, preventing homelessness, improving housing standards, supporting vulnerable residents and developing sustainable communities that can thrive for generations to come.
The consultation runs from 20 October until 7 November and residents can review the draft Housing Strategy and submit their comments online during the consultation period.
