Over £60,000 for local community projects

Broadland District Council has awarded £60,571 to support a range of community-led initiatives across the district.

Cllr Natasha Harpley, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said:

These fantastic projects will make a real difference in our communities. From improving accessibility and sustainability to enhancing play and learning spaces, these grants reflect our commitment to empowering local groups and fostering vibrant community life."

Among the successful applicants were:

• Brundall Scouts: Awarded £15,000 to refurbish the Scout Hut toilets, creating unisex facilities with disabled access.

• Hemblington Pre-School: Received £3,000 to install a secure storage shed for outdoor play and learning equipment.

• Reedham Community Association: Granted £8,828.94 to replace old wooden windows and doors with aluminium and UPVC in the village hall and sports pavilion, subject to planning approval.

• Aylsham Recreation Ground: Awarded £4,043 for a Bowfell Climbing Frame to enhance children’s play facilities.

• The Horstead Centre: Received £8,000 for the installation of a solar PV system with battery storage.

• Norfolk Youth and Lifelong Learning Centre: Granted £15,000 for window replacements and energy-efficient lighting, subject to planning approval.

• St Faiths Community Volunteer Group: Awarded £2,700 for educational signage promoting environmental awareness and biodiversity.

• Aylsham Players received £4,000 in partial funding for new staging and technical equipment.
