Opening the door to support residents

South Norfolk Council is highlighting the support available through its Help Hub, a vital service that helps residents access the right advice and assistance before problems reach crisis point.
The Help Hub brings together dozens of organisations and services, providing a single point of contact for people seeking help with a range of everyday challenges. Since its launch, the Help Hub has supported thousands of residents, offering practical help, expert advice and personalised support designed to improve wellbeing, increase independence and strengthen communities. The service operates on a simple principle of making it easier for people to access help when they need it most.
Through its "no wrong door" approach, residents can access support from multiple partner organisations through a single referral, removing barriers and ensuring help is delivered quickly and efficiently. The Help Hub can assist with a wide range of issues, including housing concerns, benefits and welfare support, debt and money advice, employment and training opportunities, health and wellbeing, relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, bereavement, isolation and small home adaptations. Residents can receive support by telephone, online, face to face in the community or through the Council’s Community Engagement Van, which regularly visits towns and villages across South Norfolk.
Councillor Graham Minshull, South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member for Supporting People, said:
Our Help Hub is one of the most important services we provide because it helps residents access the right support at the right time. Too often people struggle on alone until a problem becomes overwhelming, but the Help Hub makes it easier to ask for help and get practical support before situations reach crisis point.
"Whether someone is worried about money, looking for work, facing housing difficulties, dealing with loneliness or simply unsure where to turn, our dedicated team is here to listen and connect them with the support they need. By working closely with our partners, we can offer a truly joined-up service that makes a real difference to people's lives." The success of the Help Hub has also been recognised independently.
A recent Local Government Association review of the Councils’ housing service praised the Help Hub and wider prevention services, highlighting its innovative approach to supporting vulnerable residents and helping people access assistance when it is needed.
Residents who need support, advice or guidance can contact the Help Hub to discuss their circumstances confidentially with trained staff who will help identify the most appropriate services and support available. For more information about the Help Hub.
