New-look play areas open across South Norfolk following £300,000 investment

Families across South Norfolk can now enjoy twelve improved play areas following an investment of almost £300,000 by South Norfolk Council.
Residents played a key role in shaping the improvements, with hundreds sharing their views through a public consultation.
The programme was also supported by the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and S106 funding.
South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member, Cllr Kim Carsok, said:
Play areas are at the heart of our towns and villages. They’re places where families can meet and children can have fun, burn off some energy and enjoy being outdoors, all for free.
“I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views during the consultation. Your feedback has helped shape these improvements and create play areas that reflect what local families want and need.”
Following the consultation, new equipment has been installed at Admiral’s Way and Ullswater Drive in Hethersett, Appletree Lane in Roydon, Chestnut Road in Tasburgh, Ensign Way in Diss, Filbert Road in Loddon, Knyvett Green in Ashwellthorpe and Whispering Oaks in Wymondham.
The wider programme has included surfacing improvements at Summer Close in Framingham Earl and Tulip Tree Drive in Poringland, as well as replacement equipment at Hudson Avenue in Trowse and Gunton Road in Loddon.
Cllr Carsok added: “We’ve placed a strong focus on accessibility, creating spaces where more children can play, explore and have fun together. These improvements will make sure our play areas continue to be exciting, welcoming places that families can enjoy for many years to come.”
