Marriott’s Way 10K draws hundreds for another winning year

Participants enjoyed glorious sunshine and a fantastic atmosphere along one of Norfolk’s most scenic routes.

The popular race saw people of all ages and abilities take on the 10-kilometre trail from Aylsham to Reepham, following the historic Marriott’s Way through the Norfolk countryside. The flat, mostly off-road course once again proved a hit with both experienced runners and those taking part in their first organised race. Family, friends and supporters lined sections of the route and gathered in Reepham Market Place to cheer runners across the finish line, where Broadland District Council Chairman Adrian Tipple presented medals and congratulated participants on their achievement.

Council Chairman Cllr Adrian Tipple said:

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to take part in this year’s Marriott’s Way 10K. The sunshine certainly helped create a fantastic atmosphere and it was a pleasure to hand out medals to such an inspiring group of runners.

“Whether chasing a personal best, running for fun or taking on their first ever 10K, every single person who crossed the finish line should be incredibly proud of their achievement. Thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered, marshalled or supported the event and helped make it such a tremendous success.”

The overall winner of the men's race was Patrick Thomas of City of Norwich Athletics Club, who crossed the finish line in 35 minutes and 9 seconds.

The women's race was won by Jo Andrews of Bungay Black Dog Running Club. She finished in 38 minutes and 54.1 seconds and claimed gold for the third consecutive year.

The event also celebrated achievements across age categories, with notable performances from local running clubs and community teams.

The event also featured a Corporate Challenge, with Aviva Team 4 taking top honours among business teams.
