Last chance to nominate local heroes

Community award winners 2025

Residents are being urged to act quickly as nominations for the South Norfolk Community Awards 2026 close on 15 May.

South Norfolk Council is calling on people across the district to put forward the individuals, volunteers, young people and organisations who go above and beyond to support others and make South Norfolk a great place to live, work and visit.

Now in its 14th year, the Community Awards, sponsored by Clarion Housing, celebrate the remarkable efforts of local people who give their time, skills and energy to strengthen communities – from supporting vulnerable neighbours and running grassroots initiatives to protecting the environment and bringing people together.

Chair of South Norfolk Council, Councillor Deborah Sacks, said:

“Every year we are reminded just how many people in South Norfolk make a real difference, often without recognition. These awards are our chance to say thank you publicly. I would encourage everyone to think about someone they could nominate before the deadline.”

Nominations are open across nine categories: Healthy & Active Award, Young Achiever of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Connecting Communities Award, Environmental Champion Award, Business in the Community Award, Community Organisation of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Town or Parish Councillor of the Year.

Each category winner will receive a £250 donation to pass on to a local charity of their choice. Shortlisted nominees will be invited to a special awards evening at Bawburgh Golf Club, where winners will be announced in front of family, friends and community leaders.

Cllr Sacks added:

“Your nomination could make someone’s day and help shine a spotlight on the kindness, commitment and community spirit that makes South Norfolk such a special place.”

Nominating is quick and straightforward – simply complete the online form and explain why your nominee deserves recognition.

The deadline for nominations is 15 May 2026.
