Grants available to help communities support residents this winter

Community groups across Broadland and South Norfolk are being invited to apply for funding to help support vulnerable residents during the winter months.
Applications are now open for the councils’ Winter Pressures Grant, which offers grants of up to £500 to community organisations delivering initiatives that help people cope with the challenges of winter and the rising cost of living.
The funding is available to community groups, faith organisations, parish and town councils, trusts, CICs and CIOs that run projects supporting local residents. Eligible initiatives could include warm community spaces, Christmas hamper schemes, free or subsidised food and drinks, activities that bring people together, or the provision of essential items such as toiletries, blankets and baby supplies.
Cllr Natasha Harpley, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Housing, said:
"Winter can be a difficult time for many people, particularly those facing financial pressures, loneliness or other challenges. These grants will help local organisations provide practical support, welcoming spaces and vital connections within our communities.”
Cllr Graham Minshull, Portfolio Holder for Communities, said:
"We know community groups play a crucial role in supporting residents and bringing people together. This funding is an opportunity to help those organisations continue their fantastic work and make a real difference to people's lives during the colder months."
The councils are particularly keen to support projects that strengthen community cohesion, provide non-judgemental spaces for people to come together and ensure vulnerable individuals and families can access essential support when they need it most.
Applications are open until midnight on 30 October, with submissions considered during the first week of November and successful applicants notified by 6 November.
