Free parking in market towns this Christmas

Lisa Overton Neal in Wymondham

South Norfolk Council is making festive shopping even easier by offering an extra hour of free parking on Saturdays in the run-up to Christmas.

On 29 November and 6, 13, and 20 December, shoppers in Wymondham, Diss, and Loddon can enjoy two hours of free parking, instead of the standard one hour, in Council car parks.

Councillor Lisa Overton-Neal, South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Growth, said:

We want to make it as easy as possible for people to support our fantastic local businesses this Christmas. By offering extra free parking, we’re helping residents and visitors enjoy everything our market towns have to offer – from unique shops to seasonal events – without worrying about the clock."

Simply display a Free or Pay & Display ticket on your dashboard – while the extra hour won’t appear on the ticket, the Council’s parking team will automatically apply it.

This offer applies only to Free or Pay & Display tickets and does not include RingGo or Check In Check Out options.

And there’s more festive cheer! From 1 December, parking will be free after 4pm Monday to Friday, perfect for late afternoon shopping or grabbing a bite to eat.
