Councils thank residents for helping to crack down on fly-tipping

Tip waste. Get fined.

Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council would like to thank their residents who have already supported the new campaign to crack down on fly-tipping.

‘Where’s The Fly-tip’, or WTF for short, is a campaign asking residents to report all incidents of fly-tipping that they witness and to send the Councils any evidence that they have, including pictures, that might help identify the culprits.

The campaign that launched last week has already proved successful with residents sending in reports and evidence of fly-tipping.

The two councils are asking residents to follow the WTF Facebook page and to message the page with:

  • Where’s The Fly-tip - to the best of your ability describe where the fly-tip has occurred.
  • What’s the Fly-tip - send or upload a photo showing, or briefly describe what has been fly-tipped.
  • Who’s the Fly-tipper - let us know if you witnessed it happening, or if there could be clues as to who may have dumped it.

Householders are legally required to check that their waste will be disposed of correctly. They must ask the person who is removing their waste where they intend to dispose of it, and they must ask to see their waste carrier’s license. If they’re unable to provide one then, they may be disposing of your waste incorrectly and you could be held liable for a fixed penalty notice or even prosecution.
