Councils launch annual toy drive to bring festive joy to children

Child opening Christmas present

Broadland District and South Norfolk Councils have once again joined forces to spread festive cheer, announcing the launch of their annual toy donation drive.

The Councils are calling on residents and businesses across both areas to donate new, unopened toys and gifts. The presents will then be distributed with the help of partner agencies who are supporting families across the districts, to make sure that Santa visits as many homes as possible on the big day.

Broadland District Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, Cllr Natasha Harpley, said:

Our annual toy drive directly supports the most vulnerable children in our communities. Whether it’s a cuddly toy, a craft kit, or a board game, every single donation makes a huge difference, transforming a family's Christmas morning." The Councils are looking for donations of new, unopened gifts suitable for children and young people including; toys, games, books, toiletries, stationery and art supplies and gift vouchers.

South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Graham Minshull, said:

Every child deserves to feel the magic of Christmas and this toy drive is a wonderful way for our community to come together and make that happen. A small gift can bring a big smile and remind families that they’re not alone this festive season."

Please do not wrap your donations as the presents are given to the receiving families unwrapped so they can enjoy the process of wrapping the presents for their children. Drop-off points have been established across both Broadland and South Norfolk and will be accepting donations until 30 November.
