Civic reception raises vital funds for local charities

The Chair of South Norfolk Council, Cllr Sharon Blundell, hosted a successful civic reception at the Horizon Building on Broadland Business Park last week, raising funds for two deserving local charities.
This annual event serves as a celebration of the Chair’s year in office, highlighting the Council’s ongoing initiatives while providing an opportunity to support important charitable causes. This year, Cllr Blundell chose to support MTM Youth Services and Costessey Community First Responders, raising an impressive £5,208.18 throughout her time in office. A significant £2,288 of this total was raised as part of a charity auction, which was the civic reception’s focal point.
The auction featured a variety of exciting prizes, including a tour of the House of Lords with afternoon tea hosted by Lord Fuller, a sports car experience and a luxury retreat package. Guests were also treated to a heartwarming performance by children’s choir Voice Junction, adding a special touch to the evening’s celebrations.
Cllr Blundell said:
"I am delighted to have supported MTM Youth Services and Costessey Community First Responders over the past year, and I am incredibly proud of the funds we have raised through my civic reception auction. These charities provide invaluable services to our community, and I am deeply grateful to the businesses and individuals who generously donated auction prizes - your support has made a real difference."
A huge thank you goes to all the businesses and individuals who contributed auction prizes, including: MW Autos, Canine Dip and Dive, Jarrolds, South Norfolk Leisure, Lord Fuller, Top Loaded Cars, Barnham Broom, ZSEA, Dunston Hall, Thursford Collection, Norwich Theatre Royal, Chet Valley Vineyard, McKibbin Management Consultant Limited, 3B Data Security, Wag N Wash, and Skills4Service.
Their generosity helped make the event a resounding success, ensuring that vital support continues for these fantastic local charities.
