Cash boost for community green projects

Community groups across Broadland are being urged to apply for up to £1,000 through Veolia’s Sustainability Fund, relaunched on World Environment Day (5 June) in partnership with Broadland District Council.
The fund connects people with their local environment and community, supporting projects that boost biodiversity, reduce waste and bring people together. In 2025, nine projects in Broadland shared £8,715, including Buxton Primary School.
They used their £1,000 grant to create a bug investigation ecosystem, helping boost biodiversity while giving pupils hands-on learning opportunities.
Councillor Jan Davis, Cabinet Member for Environment at Broadland District Council, said:
“These grants give local groups and residents the chance to make a real difference where they live, whether that’s boosting biodiversity, reducing waste or bringing communities together. We’ve already seen the positive impact this funding can have across Broadland and I’d encourage anyone with a great idea to apply.”
Grants of up to £1,000 are available for not-for-profit organisations, community groups and individuals for projects that meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Enhance biodiversity
• Promote sustainable waste behaviours
• Use recycled, reused or reclaimed materials
• Strengthen local communities
Applications are open until Wednesday 30 September. To find out more and apply, visit veolia.co.uk/Sustainability-Fund
