Carbon literacy training

Cllr Jan Davis in the countryside

Broadland District Council has developed an accredited, bespoke course specifically written for Town and Parish Councils and community groups in its district.

The training covers topics such as carbon emissions, the effects of climate change on a national and local scale and actions that local groups can take. The training also includes relevant case studies and funding options.

Broadland District Council Cabinet member, Jan Davis said:

“Our environment is under attack and it is up to us to do all we can to protect our planet for future generations. Carbon literacy is about being aware of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and how we might reduce emissions, at an individual and community level. I've done the Carbon Literacy Course. It is informative, fun and also a little scary at times but you come away ready to do something about one of the biggest problems facing us today.”

The course is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Trust, and people who attend will gain accreditation which can be used towards accreditation for the organisation. More information can be found on the Carbon Literacy Trust website.

The training is a seven hour course with lunch and refreshments provided. Attendees must attend the full seven hours to get accreditation. A maximum of three people from each organisation are able to complete the training.

Training dates available:

  • Tuesday 24th September: 9am to 4.30pm at the Horizon Centre
  • Wednesday 6th November, 9am to 4.30pm at Horsford Village Hall, NR10 3DN
  • Wednesday 27th November, 9am to 4.30pm at The Horizon Centre, Broadland Business Park, NR7 0WF
