Broadland: Launching community lottery

Broadland community lottery logo

Good causes across Broadland are being invited to put their names forward to take part in a new weekly community lottery, run by Broadland District Council.

The Community at Heart Lottery gives Broadland-based organisations causes a new and fun way to raise much needed funds, as players have the choice of who they want their money to go to.

Each ticket costs £1, with 50% going to a nominated good cause and 10% to a community funding pot, which will be managed by Broadland District Council. The remaining 40% will go towards prize money and running costs.

A virtual launch event, which will give Broadland-based organisations all the information they need to know in order to take part, is taking place on 5 November. It is free to attend and you can register here.

Broadland District Council Deputy Leader, Cllr. Trudy Mancini-Boyle, said:

“We are launching the Community at Heart Lottery to give local good causes an easy way to raise funds and because people who buy a ticket can choose their good cause, they know their money is going to benefit someone or something close to their heart. This represents a big opportunity for local groups, especially as many are unable to raise funds in their usual ways due to Covid restrictions, and I’d encourage them not to miss this opportunity.”

The lottery has no set-up costs or admin fees for good causes taking part.

The first tickets will go on sale on 12 January, 2021, with the first draw taking place on 27 February, 2021. There will be a weekly draw with a jackpot of £25,000 for a matching sequence of six numbers. The other prizes available are £2,000, £250, £25 or three free tickets.
