Broadland: Recycle your old electricals

Broadland District Council will be holding an electrical recycling event at Sprowston Recreation Ground on Wednesday 14 December.

This will give residents a chance to clear out broken or unwanted electrical goods to make room for all the new presents on their Christmas wishlist.

Broadland residents have been able to put small electrical items outside for kerbside collection since April and this one-off event is an opportunity for anyone wanting to shift slightly larger items that aren’t eligible for the kerbside collection scheme – such as vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers, hedge trimmers and microwaves – without having to visit a household waste and recycling centre.

Broadland District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environmental Excellence Judy Leggett, said:

“We want to make recycling as easy as possible for our residents, who rightly care about the impact they have on the environment – Broadland residents are the best recyclers in the county. This recycling event is a great opportunity to recycle unwanted or broken items you have rather than putting them in the bin, as many of the components of electrical goods can be reused or refurbished. Let’s all make the most of this chance to have a good clear out before Christmas.”

The electrical recycling event is open from 9:30am to 1pm at Sprowston Recreation ground, Recreation Ground Road, Sprowston, NR7 8EW.

This is a drop-off recycling event, provided by our contractor, Veolia, for household electrical items only. Business waste, hazardous waste or fridges/freezers cannot be accepted.
