£150,000 to help south Norfolk’s communities bloom

An exciting new initiative aimed at helping parishes and towns revitalise their green spaces is being launched today (6 March) by South Norfolk Council.

The South Norfolk in Bloom Fund will support communities to plant vibrant floral displays and create thriving habitats for bees, butterflies, birds and other wildlife. The scheme is designed to empower local areas to enhance their natural surroundings while celebrating the unique character of South Norfolk.

South Norfolk Cabinet Member, Cllr Kim Carsok, said:

South Norfolk is a place we are all proud to call home. This fund empowers our communities to create brighter, greener spaces that reflect that pride. With £1 available for every resident, we have an incredible opportunity to make South Norfolk bloom, for nature, for wellbeing and for future generations.”

Parish, town councils and community groups will be able to access matched funding that doubles their investment in planting and environmental projects. With around 150,000 residents in South Norfolk, this could see up to £300,000 invested in making the district brighter, greener and more biodiverse.

From wildflower verges and pollinator‑friendly gardens to refreshed village greens, community orchards and stunning floral displays, the South Norfolk in Bloom Fund encourages every town and village to dream big and grow something special for all to enjoy.

This funding forms part of the Council’s wider community investment initiative. Alongside this funding, the Council is investing over £1 million to enhance local communities by supersizing the Community Action Fund to £500,000 and launching a new Community Facilities Grant, also totaling £500,000. In addition, the Council has doubled members’ ward funding from £1,000 to £2,000, further strengthening support for community-led projects.

Applications are open from 6 March – 19 April. For more information and to apply visit our In Bloom page.
