Carrying out alterations to a listed building

You must apply for listed building consent in order to make any changes to a listed building or structure which might affect its special interest, regardless of whether Planning permission is also required. Alterations also include extensions and demolitions.

In addition to listed building consent you may also require full planning permission. To find out whether you need planning permission, and how to apply, please check if you need planning permission.

We can give free advice about the requirements for listed building consent and/or planning permission affecting listed buildings. Where either type of application is required a Heritage Statement will be needed to support the proposal.

Apply for building regulation approval

In addition to planning permission and / or listed building consent you may require building regulations approval. Please contact the CNC Building Control Consultancy for further information and to make an application.
