Food business hygiene rating safeguards

Asking to be inspected again

If you make improvements to the hygiene standards highlighted in your inspection report, and you would like to apply for your business to be re-rated, you can ask the Food Safety Team to revisit.

We will assess your business again to consider giving you a new food hygiene rating.

The cost for each revisit is £202.50. Before applying you must make sure that all the improvements in your inspection report have been carried out, as your rating can go up or down.

This visit cannot be arranged by appointment and should not in general take place until three months have elapsed since the inspection, particularly where the improvements include confidence in the management of your food business or food safety control procedures. The revisit will be carried out within 3 months of receipt of your valid application and payment. You can download the request form here.

Please telephone 01603 430488 for payments by debit/credit card. We are unable to accept cash.

Right to reply

If you have improved standards since your inspection you have a right to reply so you can explain this to potential customers who look up your rating online. This will appear as a comments box beneath your rating on the Food Standard Agency website

Appealing your rating

You can appeal your food hygiene rating if you disagree with the findings of the inspection. More information can be found on the FSA website

All of the forms in relation to the above topics can be found on the FSA website.
