Bin collections

Due to the warm weather this week, our bin crews will start collections earlier across South Norfolk and Broadland, from 6am (instead of the usual 6:30am), on your usual collection day. This will apply all week.

Single use plastics

Single use plastics include food containers, drinks cups, plastic bags, some plastic bottles and plastic crockery and cutlery.

Plastic pollution is incredibly harmful for all living things and their habitats.

Each person in England uses an average of 18 single-use plastic plates and 37 items of plastic cutlery every year, according to Defra, while just 10% of those are recycled.

We have set a target to become single use plastic free councils by 2024. So far we have undertaken audits of our sites and removed single use plastics from our hot drink provision.

Norfolk Recycles have some excellent tips on reducing single use items using single use plastics.
