Community Climate Action Training

Helping communities take practical environmental action

Are you part of a parish council, village hall committee, community organisation or residents' group? Our community climate action training is designed to provide local groups with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a positive difference in their communities. The training is provided free of charge by South Norfolk and Broadland District Council. The training is a bespoke course that has been accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project.

During this interactive course, participants will gain a clear understanding of climate change, its impacts on local communities and the practical actions that can be taken at parish level. The training explores topics such as reducing carbon emissions, improving community buildings, supporting renewable energy, enhancing biodiversity, and creating greener, healthier places to live.

The course focuses on practical solutions and real-world examples. Attendees will learn how to identify opportunities within their own communities, access funding, and develop projects that deliver benefits for both people and nature. Topics include tree planting, wildlife-friendly green spaces, community engagement, and understanding parish carbon footprints.

A key part of the training is learning how to engage residents effectively. The course provides tips on communicating climate action positively, focusing on local benefits such as lower energy bills, improved health, cleaner air, flood resilience and stronger communities

The training is provided free of charge. Attendees must complete a full day course to receive the Carbon Literacy accreditation. Groups must be based in Broadland or South Norfolk areas.
