Assertive communication
This course is for all employees regardless of seniority, who need to conduct sensitive or difficult conversations with staff, colleagues or external stakeholders, and where there may be a challenging response or where the outcome is uncertain. It is also for those who are required to address performance and disciplinary issues. It covers ways to both avoid and resolve conflict.
Course content
The course will consist of:
• The causes of conflict • Different Perspectives • Overcoming misunderstandings and miscommunication • Seeking common ground • Responding to Aggression • Transactional Analysis model • Conflict Resolution Styles • Managing conflict assertively • Simple steps to resolve conflict
Duration
One day course, 9:30am to 4pm approximately.
Equipment
No equipment is necessary for you to bring to the course. Pens and note paper will be available.
Refreshments
A sandwich lunch/salad with crisps and cake is provided as well as hot and cold drinks.
