The organisation was founded by His Majesty King Charles III, when HRH the Prince of Wales in 2001.

Pub is The Hub has worked with great publicans to help inspire projects including community cafes, village stores, IT hubs, cinemas, craft sheds, community allotments, libraries and travelling theatre. It has helped over 600 pubs diversify, with over 200 of these benefitting from help through its own Community Services Fund.
