What does being a host involve?

Hosting an individual or family fleeing the war is an incredibly valuable and generous thing to do and requires a minimum commitment of six months.

During your guests’ stay you are not expected to provide food or cover any living expenses they may encounter and you will not be able to charge rent. However, you will receive £500 per month tax free for hosting a Ukrainian refugee (this will not affect any benefits you receive, or your single persons Council Tax discount should you receive it).

You will be expected to support your guest in integrating into society and accessing day to day services they are entitled to such as healthcare, benefits, employment support, education, and English language tuition.

More details on what that process of becoming a host will involve are listed below.

You can find out more about the Homes for Ukraine scheme on the GOV.UK website. Alternatively you can call our team on 01508 533987.
