Wymondham Neighbourhood Planning Referendum
In March 2020 Wymondham Town Council submitted a Neighbourhood Area application for the purpose of developing a Neighbourhood Plan. The designated area is the whole civil parish and, in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, South Norfolk Council subsequently confirmed the designation.
Wymondham Town Council submitted the Wymondham Neighbourhood Plan and other required documents to South Norfolk Council in autumn 2022. In accordance with the aforementioned regulations, there followed a period of consultation on the Neighbourhood Plan, which finished on Wednesday 21 December 2022.
Since the consultation finished, the Plan has been subject to an independent examination and the final report was received on 26 January 2023.
South Norfolk Council considered the examiner’s recommendations at its Cabinet meeting of 20 March 2023 and has issued a Decision Statement detailing the Council’s intention to send the Neighbourhood Plan to a referendum, subject to modifications being made as specified by the examiner. Further details will be available once a referendum date has been announced.
A local referendum will be held on Thursday 8 June 2023 in order to determine whether the residents of Wymondham support the proposed Wymondham Neighbourhood Plan.
