How we deal with planning applications

Public speaking at Committee

For relatively simple applications a decision can be made once the statutory 21 day consultation has finished. These are authorised under the powers delegated to the Director of Place. However, a local member can request that an application be decided by Committee, if it is in the interest of local people to do so, and it is for valid planning reasons

Public speaking at Committee

The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber for those wishing to speak and will also be live streamed by the following link.

What does this mean for me as an interested party/applicant?

You do not need to do anything further unless you are planning on attending to speak at Committee.

The representations you have already made on the application will be reported in the Committee agenda and will be taken into account in the decision-making process.

Should you wish to attend Committee and speak, please notify Democratic Services by 5pm on the Friday before the committee at the latest, stating in what capacity you would like to speak, for example, in support/objecting. Democratic Services will liaise with you to coordinate if there is more than one person wishing to speak.

The following are permitted for public speaking (subject to time limits):

  • town/parish council
  • objectors
  • supporters
  • local member

The council will be live streaming this meeting. Should you wish to observe the meeting only and not participate in public speaking, please follow the appropriate link here.
