Broadland District Council is doubling its Ward Members’ grant funding to £1,000 and creating a Community Grant Fund Panel to enable its Councillors to each award £1k-£15k to community groups.

The green light was given for both initiatives at a meeting of full council last night (Thursday 27 July), following an agreement by Broadland’s Cabinet on 13 June to consider the proposals, which were put forward by Cllr Steve Riley, Cabinet Member for Finance.

He said:

"This decision demonstrates our commitment to empowering Broadland’s communities and promoting positive change from the ground up. By doubling our Members' Ward grant funding and introducing the Community Grant Fund Panel, we are laying the groundwork for a more resilient and thriving district. I’m delighted that we will be able to better help community-led projects flourish and make a lasting difference in the lives of our residents."

The increased Members’ Ward grant funding will be available to community projects immediately, with full eligibility criteria on our website

The Community Grant Fund will launch soon with full details available on our website shortly.
