Nine projects across Greater Norwich are in line to receive more than £10 million in funding from the Greater Norwich Growth Board.

Investment in the projects, based in Broadland, Norwich and South Norfolk will attract match funding that will boost the total amount of money being invested to just under £27 million.

The nine projects are; a new 3G pitch in Aylsham, a cycle route between Hethersett and Norwich Research Park, access improvements to the roman town at Venta Icenorum, a new country park in Cringleford, access improvements to Queens Hills Park in Costessey, work to regenerate Sloughbottom Park and Guildhall and Exchange Street and improved access to Hethel Technology Park.

These new and exciting projects are  being proposed to be funded by the Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB) - a unique partnership made up of Broadland District Council, South Norfolk Council, Norwich City Council, Norfolk County Council and the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership.

Councillor John Fuller, Leader of South Norfolk Council and Chair of the Greater Norwich Growth Board, said:

“The ambition shown in the list of projects put forward for investment shows the extent to which the GNGB is making real improvements for residents and visitors to Greater Norwich.

“The forward thinking demonstrated in our unique agreement to pool CIL receipts makes major development possible in the Greater Norwich area. This investment will ensure that essential infrastructure is delivered alongside housing growth, giving our local communities long lasting benefits that will make a positive difference to their lives.”

The nine projects were chosen following a robust selection process and the amount of investment for each project is published in the Greater Norwich Five Year Investment Plan.

The funding will be formally confirmed in March 2023 and is now subject to receiving approval from each District partner Cabinet.
