South Norfolk: Free festive parking to support market towns

Gold coloured Christmas goodies in a shop

South Norfolk Council is treating its residents to an early Christmas present, with the gift of an extra hour free parking throughout December.

In addition to the one-hour free parking the Council currently offers, visitors to the market towns of Diss, Wymondham and Loddon can now park for another hour for free. Meaning they can park for free for a total of two hours on any day in December.

South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member for Stronger Economy, Councillor Lisa Neal, said

“Each year, we offer additional free parking to support our local retailers and our vibrant high streets. This Christmas choosing to spend your money locally is even more important than ever, given the challenging period most small businesses have faced during the coronavirus crisis.

“Our market towns are packed with quirky independent shops, full of interesting gift ideas, stocking fillers, cards, decorations and more, so buy local and give your family and friends unique gifts with a South Norfolk flavour!”

Free parking will be available at the following car parks:

• Diss: Park Road, Chapel Street Lower, Chapel Street Upper, Church Street, Weavers Court, Mount Street, Shelfanger Road East, Shelfanger Road West
• Wymondham: Back Lane, Town Green, Cemetery Lane and Market Street (currently closed but due to re-open on 10 December)
• Loddon: Church Plain and the Staithe
