Youth Mental Health Project
South Norfolk and Broadland Councils, alongside partner organisations (South Norfolk YAB, Resilient Pathways, and Broadland YAB) have created a mental health awareness course for young people. The course intends to help young people better understand themselves and feel confident having open conversations with others around them.
This initiative has been created to help prevent the need for engagement of clinical services.
The project has been funded by the Health and Wellbeing Partnerships (Broadland and South Norfolk), and extends upon the existing Mindful Towns and Villages objectives to ensure we are meeting the requirements of those under 18 years of age too.

Who is the training for?
The training has been designed for anyone of high school age.
What does the course cover?
- What is mental health?
- Stigma and language
- How the brain works
- Circles of control and resilience
- Emotions and strategies to manage them (including the wellbeing tree)
- 5 ways to wellbeing
- Scenario application of information
- Supporting websites
- End of course and resources.
Where will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered free to schools, youth organisations/youth groups, sports clubs, and any other interested groups who wish to host the training across South Norfolk and Broadland districts.
Course details
Title: Mental Health Awareness for Young People and their Community

Cost: Free
Training aim: To increase knowledge and empower young people to better understand their mental health and feel confident to have open conversations with others around them.
How can young people book onto the course?
The training is being offered through existing networks, organisations, clubs and groups. We are keen to hear from anyone that would like to host a course in their area. Young people associated with the host organisation will be welcome to attend. It will be at the discretion of the host as to whether they can accept external participants in the training, but we will aim to offer alternatives where this is not possible.
Would you like to host a course?
If you work with young people and would like to be a course host, please get in touch to discuss arrangements.
