Mindful Towns and Villages
Free Training Dates & Booking
We offer two mental health training sessions. You are welcome to attend either of the sessions, regardless of the district they are being hosted in.
These are:
Wellbeing Champion Training
Provided by NHS Talking Therapies Norfolk and Waveney
Wellbeing Champions care about where they live and work and understand the importance of talking about mental health and wellbeing.
The training is 1 to 1.5 hours long with a break and offers basic education about mental health, why people may struggle, and signs you may notice when someone is having a hard time. You will also learn how you might approach someone and start a conversation. Finally, you will learn about the Wellbeing Service and how we can offer support so you can effectively signpost.
You will receive a PDF booklet afterwards with all the information covered in the training and a comprehensive FAQ with details about Wellbeing and other services to help you signpost, as well as some resources to use in your workplace, business, or other community settings.
This training is also available online through The Wellbeing Service. If you do complete it online through this service, please ensure you email us your certificate so we can add you as a Wellbeing Champion for your town or village. You can email your certificate to communities@southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk
Mental Health Awareness in the Community
Provided in-house
This is a condensed two-hour awareness course which gives an overview of mental health conditions, how to manage stress, how to start a conversation and where to signpost people for further help. This course also contains some content on suicide awareness. It can be delivered to groups on request (minimum numbers required). This course can accommodate up to 20 attendees aged 18 years+.
Following the training, Wellbeing Champions will receive access to a private area on our website where supporting resources and information can be accessed.
If you have completed mental health training elsewhere and would like to be listed as a Wellbeing Champion for your area, please send us your certificate with your consent to add you to the Network. Equally, if you have experience supporting mental wellbeing through an existing job role, get in contact.
