Domestic abuse
Domestic abuse can take many forms and is not just limited to physical violence, its impact on individuals, families and the wider community can be devastating and, in some cases, fatal.
One in four women and one in six men in the UK will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
It can happen to anyone regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, social class or profession. It does not discriminate, and is never acceptable.
As Councils we are committed to breaking the silence around domestic abuse and making sure survivors can get the support they need.
If you are experiencing unacceptable behaviour in a relationship, or know someone that is, please seek support.
If you or someone you know are in immeditate danger please call 999.
