Foundation support from Business Builder for people with a great business idea in South Norfolk
Looking to start a business, but no idea where to start? This scheme aims to give potential entrepreneurs the support to prepare, plan and start their own business.
The scheme is open to applications only before a business starts trading.
One of our experienced Economic Development Officers who specialise in business support will in the first instance, contact you to discuss your business idea in more detail. The officer will where appropriate then offer ongoing support and guidance working with you, as you further plan your new venture. This support could be through in person meetings, regular emails, training or through signposting to other organisations that can help. Feedback has demonstrated this ongoing support in these early stages has been invaluable, during these daunting initial steps.
If the officer decides you have a well-thought-out business idea, or you need access to more business knowledge or resources to further develop your business skills, we can offer access to a free online comprehensive and professional start-up training package. In these cases, the £65 cost of the course will be met by the council.
This course is modular and will give you into an insight into the basics of setting up your business including subjects such as, business plans, record keeping and marketing. With downloadable handouts and interactive video’s, it can be worked through in your own time and at your own pace.
Grants are not available at this stage; however the programme will provide the essential training and skills, which may allow you to make an application to the Build-Up Grant scheme if your business idea is considered viable and ready to start trading. Grant applications may also be conditional on the online course having been completed beforehand.
